Concussion Management
How Can We Help?
Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based concussion care. We offer baseline testing, concussion diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to help individuals safely return to learn, work, and sport.
We collaborate with healthcare providers, coaches, and parents to educate and empower the community to recognize concussions
What is a Concussion?
A concussion is a functional brain injury caused by acceleration or deceleration of the brain within the skull after a significant impact to the head or elsewhere to the body. Symptoms may include headache, neck pain, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of consciousness, fatigue, sensitivity to light and sound, confusion, difficulty focusing, and more.
What is Baseline Testing?
Multimodal baseline testing involves a series of physical and cognitive tests that provide a pre-injury overview of healthy brain function. These tests assess various areas of brain function including memory and attention, balance and coordination, visual processing, reaction time, and neurocognitive testing.
Every individual has unique strengths and weaknesses and these tests offer a benchmark for comparison should you sustain a concussion.
Concussion symptoms often disappear days to weeks before the brain has fully recovered.
Baseline information is incredibly valuable in helping a healthcare provider make safer return to play decisions as it allows for comparison to your individual pre-injury scores .
